Michael Yon posts one of the periodic national security status updates from General Barry McCaffrey. This one’s pretty much what you’d expect, but it’s useful to see what people are reading.
The comments at Yon’s site are what is to be expected from Yon’s site.
McCaffrey rehashes the conventional wisdom but some observations:
-NoK is a much larger problem than the public understands. It is “coming apart” and the results could be catastrophic.
-The death of Castro isn’t likely to change anything. It would help matters greatly if we reversed our nearly 50 years of foolish Cuban policy, though.
-McCaffrey softpedals the poor economic climate, especially as it pertains to those states with nukes.
