That joke is so old, the first version had the Langley…

I see the Air Force have their problems with ship design too. The USAF pilots complain that the first green should be astern of the first tee, so that when she turns into the wind, they can get an extra 40 knots behind their drives.

Back in the 90s I was part of a team which launched 2 B25s off of the Ranger along with having several more on display at North Island NAS. Then we all took off and flew up to Pebble Beach where we dumped carnations out of the B25s all over the golf course. I am sure Jimmy loved it, Don’t know about the golfers and groundskeepers though.

I served in the USAF for 8 years and only flew commercial. I did two years at Yale studying Chinese, 4 years ‘roughing it’ in Taiwan and 2 years at Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, TX. the latter was the only time I was stationed on an air base — and it only had one airplane. I would love to do an aircraft carrier t/o and landing just once — but I doubt I’ll ever get the chance. I hope that was a well stocked Officers Club at the 19th hole or the facility would not pass inspection. LHD

Too much room taken up by the island…

Luther: and that one plane at Goodfellow was for use of the fire fighter school!

First, this is an old old joke. Second, I thought this was supposed to be a professional naval centric blog.

You mean if we have a sense of humor, we’re not professional? Gosh, who’d a thunk it…

no kidding it is an old joke.

“That joke is so old, the first version had the Langley…”

I like the angled deck better. More landing area for my somewhat prominent fade off the tee box.

No, Byron. You are unprofessional when the humor is not relevant.

  • Byron

Radman, I’ve been hanging around this blog (and many others) since it’s inception. This is the first bit of humor so far. One little joke in the midst of all the very serious discussion does not an unprofessional forum make.

Take a deep breath and relax, you’ll feel better.
