Ah, kick me when I don't spellcheck! Eagle one is right as usual...What was it Twain said about spelling? "I don't see any use in having a uniform and arbitrary way of spelling. We might as well make all clothes alike and cook all dishes alike.." (But, hey, I'll go correct it..)

@John, your suggestions are GREAT. Fantastic.

@Byron, I think that Neighborhood Watch thing might work out really well. I think it'd work really well in some of the rough neighborhoods out in my neck of the world. And people here would love it. Seriously.

I REALLY like the Neighborhood Watch idea! Could you picture a bunch of 'bangers trying to 'front some Marines? Woo-hee!

Worthwhile activity.

Not to be too picky, but isn't there only one "n" in inaugural?

A few ideas:
-The local Reserve units need to be involved. I'm at a unit in MI, first I've heard of this.
-Same with the Marine Corps League-any time we can have the older veterans and the young ones together, everyone benefits.
-An amphib or even a LCM at the Navy Pier would be awesome-saw an LST in Detroit once, had samples of all the BLT's weapons and equipment on board.
-Bring in the convoy simulator that makes the rounds at the air shows.
-There needs to be an Osprey in the aviation demos-seeing that thing fly and maneuver is the best counterargument to all the naysayers.
-to expand on your last idea, a HAZMAT/WMD exercise with CBIRF working with Chicago FD and Emergency Management-the USMC involvement in emergency response is a capability more people should know about.
