Here, Midrats, and over at the homeblog, I’ve tried to keep Africa as part of my scan. The demographics, economics, and political aspects of this huge continent demand attention to any forward looking person in the natsec arena.
One of the spots I’ve recently started monitoring is the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) regional update section on Africa at their website.
They really caught my eye with this graphic below. Just a superb summary of what is going on, year on year with their weekly summary. Individually focused articles are of good quality as well.
If you are not already keeping Africa in your scan, start the habit now – and I’d offer to include ACLED as a regular reference point.
