A remarkable detail about the end of the significant US military presence in Afghanistan was that the last Commander to call the old building next to Destille Gardens his HQ, General Scott Miller, USA, served longer than any other commander.
A darkly humorous note, after a short low-key ceremony, is that now the military efforts there as we continue to wind down in that land locked Central Asian nation will be fronted by a US Navy Rear Admiral.
